TAUXEMONT'S SPRING 2021 SEMESTER BEGINS JANUARY 12TH AND WILL OPERATE UNDER THE FOLLOWING COVID-19 POLICY:
Tauxemont’s response and policies follow the Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) COVID-19 Phase III Reopening Guidelines.
Tauxemont-specific policies are summarized below:
- School is conducted mostly outdoors. The interior is being used primarily for toileting needs.
- Children receive a health screening before entering the school grounds.
- Children wash their hands before entering the school grounds.
- Adults must wear face coverings.
- Children are strongly encouraged to wear face coverings.
- Families bring their child to the parking lot where they are greeted by a teacher, and then brought into the school grounds. Sign in and out is at this point.
- Families have a specific window of time to bring their child to school and to pick them up. If there is a challenge for a family fitting into this ‘window’ they can simply text a specific designated teacher and we will adjust their time.
- Materials such as manipulatives and art supplies are for single use and are cleaned between children.
- Equipment, climbing pieces, etc., are cleaned between groups.
- Staff change their outer clothing between groups.
- Children and staff are encouraged to socially distance.
- Children and staff continue to wash hands as we always have; after toileting, after coughing, sneezing and using a tissue, after placing hands in a mouth, entering the building after being outdoors, before eating, after eating, and after handling animals.
- Hand washing takes precedence over the use of hand sanitizers.
- Children have a clearly labeled water bottle and know how to use it before school begins, which they bring and take home daily.
- Snack is eaten outdoors, socially distanced and for the interim is not served family style. Children do not share food.
- If a child or staff member exhibits any signs of illness including raised temperature, upset stomach, repeated coughing, or malaise they are immediately separated from the group and leave the school grounds as soon as possible. They cannot return until they have been symptom free for 24 hours.
- Parent helping is suspended until exposure is less of a concern.
